However, essential oils may prove fatal for your pets if not properly diluted, so another alternative will be herbs like Basil, the fumes of the which are most effective against mosquitoes and similar other flying insects.

But it’s always better to keep the windows screened before applying these methods, so that, once the pests evacuate, they won’t be allowed in later. And if possible, aerate the soil of your garden and install an electronic device emitting ultrasonic sound to repel the insects. And if everything fails, light a bonfire in your backyard or in your garden, throw in some citronella and watch the pests developing some real suicidal tendencies. It shall half their population within an hour or so, then close the openings of your home before trying once more the methods aforementioned to wipe out even the last few representatives of the dirt balls and their families.
